The Liverpool race also served as the BAA European Cross Country Team Trial. Weather had a dramatic effect on the results as days of rain turned the 3k loop course in a 6" mud covered quagmire. The senior men's open was the 12th race of the day. Eddie Ernest-Jones finished 26th out of 396 covering 10k in 30:56. Eddie posted victories at the prestigous Willamette Invitational and Barber to Boise 10k (course record) earlier in the season.

The weather again played a significant role in the results as snow and 23 degree temperature (wind chill 9 degrees) were a major part of the day. Kevin Peters followed his early season victory at the NNU Roger Curran Invitational and his second place at Willamette with a 46th place among over 300 runners in Spokane. His mark for the the multi loop 10k course was 32:38 placing in the thick of the racing with some of the top club athletes in the country. On the women's side Cynthia Mauzewrall follwed her stellar race at the national 10 mile championship earlier this fall with a 46th place covering 6k in 23:19.
