Eddie and Char Blast at Bloomsday!!

The annual Lilac Bloomsday 12k in Spokane once again proved to be one of the largest (50,000 runners) and fastest road races in the country. The men's elite field contained five of the top ten fastest 10k runners in the world last year along with a former 3 time Bloomsday champion. Twenty five African elite athletes lined up with several others to produce a race that was won in course record time of 33:51. Eddie Ernest-Jones finished 22nd in a mark of 36:44 (#2 all-time GBRC at Bloomsday) to make his mark as one of the top emerging elite athletes in the Northwest. On the women's side Char Hefflinger and Cynthia Mauzerall returned from injury and maternity leave to finish 19th and 20th in 45:46 and 46:03 respectively.
